Our remanufactured NV4500's are 5-speed constant mesh manual transmissions, all gear ranges including reverse are synchronized it's a top loader with a cast iron case and an aluminum shift cover also comes with an aluminum bell housing for conversion. Replacement unit do not include bell housing. Two versions of New Venture Gear Manufactured NV4500 are used in 1994 and later upto 2002 models of the Dodge 3/4 and one ton vehicles, a standard duty version is used for 5.2L and 5.9L applications and a heavy duty version is used for Cummins diesel engines. The main differences between the two versions concern the larger input and output shafts used in the heavy duty version, Chevrolet also used this transmission.
The NV4500 is a top loader style transmission. The shift lever is located in the shift cover bolted to the top of the shift cover and operates the shift forks and rails directly. The shift forks and rails are all located within the aluminum cover which is bolted to the top of the gear case. Dual cone synchronizers are used for first and second gears. The 1-2 synchronizer have a set of spring loaded flyweights in the synchro hub that govern shift speeds, to prevent over-revving on a 2-1 downshift. Our NV4500 transmission includes reverse gear inhibitor mechanism that prevents engagement when shifting into forward gear ranges. The inhibitor mechanism is located in the shift cover.
Additional featurse of our remanufactued NV4500's inclued tapered roller bearings support the drive gear, mainshaft, and countershaft in the gear case. Pilot roller bearings in the drive gear hub support the forward end of the mainshaft. The mainshaft gears are supported on caged type roller bearings. Drive gear thrust reaction is controlled by a needle type thrust bearing located at the forward end of the mainshaft, thse features make this NV4500 a great replacement for the earlier Getrag 360 used by Dodge. Reverse gear and forward gears 1-4 are mounted inside the main transmission case, 5th gear is mounted in the tailshaft assembly. Our remanufactured transmission all come with updated mainshaft to prevent know problem of 5th gear backing off the shaft if the vehicle is lugged while towing. If your transmission is only good for between 60,000 and 70,000 miles, this New Venture unit is for you. This 5 speed unit is available for both 2WD and 4WD applications, you can use your existing clutch assembly. These units are remanufactured and have a 12 month unlimited miles warranty!

2 wheel drive modifications requires that you remove lip from crossmember and drill holes for new mount. If you would like you can ship your driveline to us by UPS, we will shorten your shaft, install a new yoke and high speed balance the complete new assembly for $260.00, plus return UPS freight. 4 wheel drive conversion require slight modification to floor board only. You may or may not need to order the 11" wide crossmember (Dodge PN52058460).
