IDENTIFICATION Aluminum case is vertically split lengthwise. The bearings are tapered except for the rear mainshaft and rear countershaft bearings. The synchros are aluminum ring/pin assemblies, the outer plates of which are part of the forward speed gears. There are no ball bearings or brass synchro rings in this unit. This unit is only used in the 1987-1989 6 cylinder Jeep there are both 5 or 6 bolt mounting flanges for the transfer case on 4wd models.
