Different overhaul kits are available depending on the extent of the overhaul that you plan, the contents of the kits are described as follows:
DTSBKXXX Kits (RWD): Main case bearings, gaskets, seals. You may also want to add new bearing retainer, nuts, dogs & wires, extension housing bushing, small parts kit, shifter bushings. Syncro rings are not included in these kits.
DTSBKXXXWS Kits (RWD): Main case bearings, gaskets, seals. You may also want to add bearing retainer, nuts, dogs & wires, extension housing bushing, small parts kit, shifter bushings. IDENTIFICATION - FORD TRUCK & SUV 5spd, RWD or 4WD, M5R1 Aluminum case and top cover, top loaded aluminum unit with an integral bellhousing and tower shift. Fully synchronized with brass synchro rings in all gears, including reverse. Front input shaft bearing is tapered with an 80mm O.D. The rear bearing retainer is aluminum. The shifter tower has the infamous three rubber plugs in the back that are prone to leak if not changed to steel. Inspect the units to see if they have the updated 5th/reverse assembly before ordering synchro kits or reverse gears.
