We can provide quality rebuild kits and parts for your Ford or Mercury 3 speed manual transmission. Our Ford 3 speed manual transmission parts and rebuild kits are designed to be top of the lines. This HED performance transmission is rear wheel drive was typically used by Ford in early Mustang, Falcon, Fairlane and Rancho applications. This transmission was also used by Mercury in their Comet and Montego models. In addition to hard parts we can provide two different overhaul kits:
DTSBKXXX Kits include main case bearings, gaskets and seals. Syncro rings are not included in these kits.
DTSBKXXXWS Kits include main case bearings, gaskets seals. Syncro rings are included in these kits.
You may also want to add new bearing retainer, nuts, dogs & wires, extension housing bushing, small parts kit, shifter bushings. Syncro rings are not included in these kits. You can identify the HED transmission by its cast iron top loaded case that has a 4-bolt tin top cover and 3-bolt front bearing retainer. Extension housing can be either cast iron or aluminum. Side shifter linkage with non-synchronized 1st gear, 24-tooth brass syncro rings for 2nd and 3rd and a four-step cluster gear. The Main shaft 1st gear is helical angle pitched to the right. This 3 speed was found only in 6 cylinder vehicle applications. See illustration and parts list.
